Integrated Business Planner™

Integrated Business Planner™ (IBP) integrates financials with Sales and Operations Planning and optimizes the supply plan and demand-shaping based on financial metrics.

  • 0.3 to 0.5% of revenue in additional operating profit
  • 5 to 10 times ROI in first 12 months

Integrated Business Planner helps consumer goods companies financially optimize their supply chains, moving from simple demand supply match to integrated business planning, even under rapidly changing business conditions.

With Integrated Business Planner companies can create a full-fledged, forward-looking financial plan on a weekly basis, including: P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow. They can also identify critical areas where plans are short of targets; the root causes underlying any variance; and course correction actions that can be taken to bridge the gaps between target and plan, as well as opportunities to exceed target.

Ensure that all supply planning actions are balanced by performing holistic impact analysis with Integrated Business Planner.

Best Practice Relevancy
Model at the right level of detail (typically similar to the Supply Plan) to support the right business decisions
  • Accurately quantify implications of base and alternative scenarios on the sales, capacity, inventory, and financials
  • Produce a plan that can be consumed directly by S&OP without complex disaggregation exercises that dilute the results
Financials are input and output, generated directly by the process representation
  • Financial and business scenarios are two sides of the same coin and need to be modeled in a fully integrated representation
  • Optimize understanding of product/asset profitability
  • Facilitate reconciliation between S&OP and Financial Plan
Facilitate understanding of gaps, opportunities and root-cause analysis
  • Guide business users to quickly focus on the right areas
  • Enable collaboration and understanding across functions
Make decisions base on their net marginal impact or Opportunity Value™, focusing on total impact vs. siloed metrics
  • Decisions made based on historical information or forecasts enabled by costs calculated separate from the business are almost always suboptimal
  • Maximize business impact and manage implication to functional silos
Support 360-degree trade-off, what-if, and optimization analyses, especially price, product mix, and SKU strategies
  • Highest untapped potential lies in connecting market-related decisions with their operational and true financial implications
  • Engage the knowledge of multiple functions to find the best path
  • Leverage optimization to manage complex scenarios and compare apples vs. apples
