Driving Profitability through Better Performance Management and Process Improvements

Enterprise Optimizer® (EO) Server extends planning capabilities through integration with Microsoft Business Intelligence technology

River Logic’s Enterprise Optimizer (EO) Server is a diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive modeling platform that supports a wide range of business intelligence, performance management, and process improvement solutions. EO Server supports Enterprise Optimizer-based, enterprise planning solutions with integrated, complex models and multiple users by integrating 64-bit architecture, multiple processors, a Microsoft .NET framework and the Microsoft SQL Server BI platform into a holistic environment.

EO Server is fully integrated with Microsoft’s Business Intelligence platform, facilitating collaboration among individuals and teams across an enterprise. From a single location, a user can provide content management features and implement business processes. Our integrated platform allows users to access essential business intelligence information that helps them drive better results.

  • Use a single platform to accurately represent the entire company, which is the foundation for true, cross-functional planning
  • Deliver unprecedented insights to users through a holistic understanding of the business and the ability to conduct fast “what-if” simulation and optimization analyses that accurately measure full financial impact
  • Increase planning agility and make it a foundation for dynamic course correction
  • Align business planning and decision-making with key performance indicator (KPI) targets and financial plans

EO Server supports the Enterprise Optimizer solver and IBM’s CPLEX solver to deliver maximum results. EO Server models scale to tens of thousands of SKUs, complex processes (e.g., batch, sequencing, by-products, multi-echelon inventory), financial structures (e.g., partial ownership, transfer pricing, account aging, detailed unit costs), and multiple time periods while delivering results within seconds or minutes.

EO Server includes several components:

User Input and Output Interfaces. Users interact with the system through web pages or thin or thick .NET clients, bringing unprecedented levels of insight right into the browser or application. Alternatively, users access EO Server via predefined Microsoft® Office Excel® tables, which enable further analysis and communication. Users can also create and view EO outputs through dashboards and scorecards via Microsoft® Office SharePoint® Server or other BI systems, allowing multiple users to collaborate in the formulation and analysis of different scenarios.

Modeling Engine. At the heart of EO Server is River Logic’s modeling engine. The engine accurately represents business processes, market opportunities, financials, and constraints by combining a powerful translator with pre-existing rules and templates. This enables the engine to recognize and create the appropriate mathematical representations required to solve complex business problems. EO Server supports a number of specialized commercial solvers that expand the range of business situations that can be modeled.

Scenario Management. Built on Microsoft® SQL Server 2008, the Scenario Management feature serves several purposes; it enables the system to accept, clean, and translate data from almost any source and updates the EO model on an event or time-driven cycle, or manually as required. This feature also translates EO outputs into data cubes for reporting and analysis. Additionally, the feature archives previous planning scenarios for comparison of plans versus actual performance, enabling users to instantly compare and visualize hundreds of scenarios and to re-run solves and scenarios directly from their user interfaces.

Workflow and User Management. EO Server seamlessly integrates with Microsoft® Office SharePoint® Server to establish planning roles (contributors and approvers) and the appropriate workflow and collaboration cycles, as well as the right levels of data security and access.

Administration. EO Server Management Studio allows administrators to analyze and manage scenarios, job queues, user permissions, data access rights, user sessions/connections, EO model locations/links, EO Server licenses, and other services.

Deployment. EO Server includes development tools that allow model-building using easy drag-and-drop visual diagrams and tables. Configuring the model requires no coding, building, or sequencing of equations. Subsequent model updates are easy to make using the same visual diagram and simple data tables. EO Server can be deployed on a hosted and/or SaaS model.

River Logic offers a Certification Program that allows model-building professionals to quickly learn the basics required to start building models.
